【Factory Flood Recovery】Custom Machinery Back in Operation in Just 10 Days! A Case Study on BCP Response to Above-Floor Flooding (Video Included)

A factory suffered above-floor flooding due to a river overflow caused by a typhoon, submerging custom machinery that could not be replaced. In a desperate situation where the manufacturer could not provide immediate repair service, RecoveryPro led the factory back to operation in just 10 days. We introduce this speedy recovery case study with a video.

【Damage Situation and Challenges】Custom Machinery Submerged by Above-Floor Flooding: The Crisis of Unavailable Manufacturer Support

Heavy rain from a massive typhoon caused a nearby river to overflow, resulting in above-floor flooding at a construction material manufacturer’s factory. The “custom-made manufacturing equipment,” essential for supplying clients worldwide, was submerged, and internal corrosion (rust) began to develop within a few days after the disaster.

At that time, the client was facing the following two serious challenges:

  • Challenge 1: Replacement was impossible
    • Since it was a custom-made machine, ordering a new one would take several months, making delays in delivery to clients (and the risk of losing social credibility) unavoidable.
  • Challenge 2: Delayed response from the machine manufacturer
    • Due to the widespread nature of the disaster, the manufacturer was also overwhelmed and could not rush to the site immediately.

RecoveryPro’s “On-Site Disassembly and Precision Decontamination”

RecoveryPro conducted an on-site inspection on the 4th day after the disaster. To avoid delivery delays, we proposed an “all on-site operation” to restore everything right there without moving the equipment. We carried out an ultra-fast recovery through the following process:

  • Drainage and Anti-Rust Treatment: Rapidly drained muddy water from the pits under the floor to stop the progression of rust.
  • Machine Disassembly and Precision Decontamination: Disassembled the equipment on-site and removed internal sludge and contaminants using specialized techniques.
  • Complete Drying of Control Panels: Electronic circuit boards and electrical components, which are most vulnerable to water damage, were completely dried using specialized equipment after decontamination.
  • Manufacturer Collaboration: After the physical restoration, we cooperated with the machine manufacturer to perform the final operational checks and adjustments.

【Video】How the Factory Returned to Full Operation in Just 10 Days

You can watch a two-and-a-half-minute video showing the actual damage situation at the site and RecoveryPro’s decontamination and restoration work.

All equipment restoration was completed in just 10 days from the start of the operation. We successfully avoided several months of shutdown and hundreds of millions of yen in replacement costs, protecting the client’s vital social credibility.
